Mr. Steffen Thormann, Junior Project-Manager, HWF Hamburg Business Development Corporation, was part of the organization team and moderated the Opening Session.   The honourable Consul General of India, Dr. Vinod Kumar, Hamburg, opened the Colloquium.
 
Mr. Gunther Bonz, State Secretary of the Ministry for Economic and Labour Affairs of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg gave the Welcome Address.   Mr. Olaf Meuser, Managing Director, Head of Region Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein, Corporate Banking, Deutsche Bank AG, Hamburg spoke on risks and opportunities of investment in India.
 
A look at the very attentive and interested audience.   Dr. Amal Mukhopadhyay, Founder and Director of ELGA Biotech in Hamburg and the leading organizer of the Colloquium, spoke on the opportunities in Healthcare.
 
Prof. Dr. Peter Seeberger, Professor for Organic Chemistry at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, Switzerland, and Recipient of the Koerber Prize 2007 presented the Plenary Lecture - From Basic Science to Business Opportunities.   Dr. Georg Stark, Managing Director of Alfred E. Tiefenbacher GmbH & Co. KG, Hamburg, spoke on Development of Generic Medicine in India.
 
Dr. Kathrin Adlkofer, Managing Director, Norgenta, Hamburg, guided through Session II "Bioinformatics".   Prof. Dr. Andrew Torda, Centre for Bioinformatics, University of Hamburg, informed very lively and humorous about his Centre ...
 
... and the audience was really amused.   Mr. Naveen Kulkarni, Polyclone Bioservices, Bangalore, India, spoke about the importance of Bioinformatics.
 
Prof. Dr. Oliver Rentzsch, Managing Director, Medregio GmbH, Lübeck, was Chairperson of the Session III "E-Health".   Dr. Uwe Eissing, Managing Director, Mednet Service für Ärzte AG, Cologne, raised the question as to handle medical data in an unsecure world.
 
Mr. Kurian Babykutty, Business Development Executive, Katrasoft GmbH, Hamburg and Bangalore, refered to opportunities in Indo-German collaboration concerning E-Health.   PD Dr. Peter Stritzke, Managing Director, Econmed GmbH, Hüllhorst, talked about the Public Electronic Patient Record (EPR).
 
Last not least Mr. Stefan Matz, Director International Business, HWF Hamburg Business Development Corporation, informed about the HWF as a partner for a successful start in Hamburg.   Later that evening, as a final highlight of the India Week in Hamburg, a Diwali Festival took place and most of the speakers and participants attended the "Festival of Lights".
